A GREY KNIGHT
The Valkyrie shook violently as they descended to the hive city; the large forces of Chaos in the area had aroused the
need to call in the Inquisition. And thus we were deployed, the 127th Inquisitorial Stormtroopers regiment. And I am Captain
Schuili, One of two snipers of the Black knights inquisitorial stormtroopers. The fighting had continued for three months
before we were called. Listen up grunts, "Were landing in a combat zone, as soon as the bird touches down get out and
meet at the safe house, Sergeant Sanders barked at us. I sat thinking, trying to ignore Sargs high-pitched barks. As most
of us did I thought about my family, my mission, my brother. Private Greg Simans, He had just made it into the inquisition.
Hes fresh from boot camp and didnt even finish high school. At 15 the Imperium had yanked him from school and sent him straight
to basic due to his athletic and tactical abilities. He was immediately transferred into the Inquisition, unlike me who had
spent years in training and combat. Both of us dreamed of becoming Grey Knights. But it was only a childhood fantasy. This
was his first real combat drop, and he wasnt ready. Two minutes, Sarg yelled. Greg breathed deeply. Private Garand laughed,
Lets kick some ass. The pilot yelled from the cockpit thirty seconds. I pulled my goggles down as the rear ramp began to fold
downward with a loud hum. Light flooded into the small compartment of the ship as it screeched to a halt. He Sarg yelled something
but the heavy bolter fire coming from the side of the ship drowned it. I jumped out of the ramp only to be greeted by darkness.
The city lay in ruins, rubble lay scattered everywhere along with the bodies of dead soldiers. Ahead were about twenty chaos
marines and a predator fighting Imperial guardsmen pinned down in a building ahead of them, we landed behind them undetected.
I followed the Sarg through a series of buildings. Our location was directly above the advancing chaos. At this point we began
to nauseate at the foul stench of the chaos. Schuili, Sarg yelled. Sir, I responded sternly. Take em down. Yes sir I replied.
Garand, I called the squads second sniper. He moved out of the room and relocated at a downstairs window. I set up my rifle
and shot the rear marine taking his head clean off. Taking the shot sir, Garand whispered into the comlink. The rear marine
caught up and they were even in a row now. One of the marines fell to the ground. Shit, I cursed aloud. The other marines
saw the death of their comrade. Damnit, Garand had alerted them of our presence. A red dot ran up my armor and I ducked back
into the house. I peeked up and shot and ran to the window two rooms down. A flash came from downstairs. And a second one.
Relocate Garand RELOCATE. I flash came from the other building and there was a thump downstairs. So chaos does have good snipers.
I peeked back up and shot. The marine fell three stories down and hit the street with a large thump. The chaos marines retreated
back towards where we landed and the guardsmen taunted them as they ran. Ten minutes later I found myself in the dirt trench
covered in mud. Black Knights Inquisitorial squad reporting, saluted to the Imperial Guard Commissar. Glad you could make
it, The Commissar responded. We cant hold our ground alone. Chaos has begun its advance, and we have lost contact with our
command ship. Sergeant Grand Took a breath. Im sorry but you ship was taken over by the forces of Chaos, he said. The commissar
grieving was interrupted as a large explosion erupted outside the hq building of the Imperial Guard. Shit, The Commissar yelled.
There back Hordes of Chaos Marines descended down the large hill towards the dug in forces. In the middle of the Rush stood
Fargesh The Chaos lord of this company. The lord yelled menacingly Death to the false emperor. Death to the world of man.
I ran off to find a good vantage point on the lord. If I killed him. I could be admitted into the Grey Knights.
